Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to do Hypnobirthing if I am already taking an NCT or NHS course?

Hypnobirthing is an excellent complement to other antenatal courses as it approaches birth preparation from a unique yet simple angle, covering areas not touched on by most other courses. My hypnobirthing classes are tailored to individual needs and focus exclusively on what you can do to help yourself have the most positive birth experience regardless of the type of birth you are planning. Most other antenatal education covers a broad range of topics from hospital procedures and protocol to nappy changing. This is all still very useful but on the Hypnobirthing workshop with me, you will learn vital skills to prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and physically for birth and motherhood.

How is your course different to cheaper online Hypnobirthing courses?

My course is specifically tailored to each participant and groups are kept small for this purpose. As a certified Hypnotherapist, and Hypnobirthing coach of 10 years, I can tailor the hypnosis sessions to the individual rather than offer a ‘one size fits all’ approach. We will work through individual issues and concerns and I will answer any questions you may have. This will enable you and your partner to leave the workshop feeling calm and confident about the birth with all the skills you need to have a positive birth experience.

What if my birth doesn’t go according to plan?

Hypnobirthing doesn’t guarantee a certain type of birth but it helps you to feel calm and relaxed wherever your birthing experience takes you. Feelings can remain with you, however you end up giving birth to your baby and my course and the birth rehearsal track you receive will prepare you for all eventualities.

Can I use Hypnobirthing if I need a caesarean section?

Hypnobirthing is for all types of birth. Whatever the circumstances, feeling relaxed and calm is always going to be a million times better than stressed and scared. I will tailor the workshop to your needs and prepare you for a positive caesarean birth which also includes the ‘prepare for caesarean‘ hypnosis track.

Does my partner have to attend?

It would be most beneficial for you both if your birth partner attends the workshop with you. He/She will gain invaluable skills and knowledge to help you during labour in the most effective way. If your partner feels nervous at the thought of attending, please contact Ruth for a chat: info@ruthsabrosa.com

What do I need to do now?

You can book your workshop here.

Once dates are confirmed and payment has been received you will be emailed a confirmation with details on the course, timings, what to bring, what to wear, T&C and Ruth’s contact details. You will also receive a pre-course questionnaire to fill out and return. This will be treated with complete confidence and will help Ruth ensure all of your needs are met on the course.

You will receive a course companion and birthing toolkit through the post prior to the class and your hypnobirthing tracks at the end of the workshop.
